Reentry Program
Atlanta Consulting and Psychological Services collaborative Mental Health Reentry Program transitions incarcerated offenders with serious mental illness into appropriate community-based mental health services in the community. Counselors employed by ACPS are part of the multidisciplinary treatment team. As a member of the community multidisciplinary treatment, they coordinate the mental health reentry of offenders with a serious mental illness. Reentry Intensive Care Coordination Teams (RICCTs) are under ACPS contracts to be responsible for engaging with the offender with serious mental illness prior to discharge and then working with them in the community until they are fully participating in the appropriate community-based mental health and substance abuse services.
The purpose of this program is to expand and/or enhance substance abuse treatment and related recovery and reentry services to sentenced adult offenders returning to the community from incarceration for criminal offenses. Applicants are expected to form stakeholder partnerships that will plan, develop and provide a transition from incarceration to community-based substance abuse treatment and related reentry services.
